Before joining Lucassen, Nicole worked at Philips for an impressive 30 years. Her time there ended due to a company restructuring. But as one door closed, another opened. In Nicole’s case, it led her to Lucassen, where she has now been working for six years as a bench worker.
Nicole has always enjoyed working with her hands. At her previous employer, she originally planned to stay only a short while, but that turned into three decades, during which she also completed several internal technical training programs. When it came time to look for a new job, one thing was clear: she wanted to stay in the technical field. At Lucassen, Nicole has a various role, in addition to her bench work, she also helps out in the cleanroom when needed. A welcome change of pace.
The transition from a multinational to Lucassen wasn’t difficult for Nicole: “My former department was already quite small-scale, similar to how things work at Lucassen. What really stands out here is that everyone knows each other and is always willing to help. There’s always someone who listens. In our team, we have colleagues who’ve been here for 30 years and others who just started. That makes no difference, everyone supports each other.”
While the technical field is often male-dominated, the bench work department is a little different. The precise nature of the work makes it especially suitable for women, and Lucassen makes good use of that. The heavier parts are lifted by the men, and the finer tasks are gladly passed on to the women. That makes it a balanced division of labor.
What Nicole values most about working at Lucassen is the sense of unity: “We’re truly one company here, whether you work in production or in the office. No one sees themselves as more important than anyone else. The best example? I was once called in by the director, and had no idea why. It turned out I was being celebrated for five years of service.”
